The Data, Identity, &amp; API Platform group at New Relic builds the foundation for all of our products: data ingest, storage, and query. As an engineer working on NRDB, you’ll be contributing directly to the proprietary telemetry database technology at the core of our business.

New Relic's whole platform runs on an assumption: by the time a request reaches any service, someone has already answered two questions, who is this, and what are they allowed to do. The Access &amp; Governance Platform team builds and runs the systems that answer both. On the authentication side, that means login, session and token management, and enterprise SSO integrations (SAML, OIDC, OAuth2) for customers who need to plug New Relic into their own identity provider. On the authorization side, it means the roles, capabilities, and grants model that every other team at New Relic checks against before letting a user touch anything.
Because these services sit underneath everything else, the problems here are rarely simple CRUD. <li>BS/MS in Computer Science, or equivalent education/experience in a relevant field.</li>
<li>Hands-on experience coding in programming languages such as Golang, Java, Javascript or Python.</li>
<li>Hands-on experience driving the software architecture and design of large-scale, multi-tiered, distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using service-oriented architecture, object-oriented design, and RESTful API endpoints.</li>
<li>6+ years of people management experience.</li>
<li>5+ years of experience with tools such as Jenkins, ArgoCD, Temporal, Terraform, and Kubernetes.</li>

Are you ready to step into a pivotal leadership role where your engineering depth directly shapes the future of our core platform? As our new Engineering Manager, you will lead a talented, distributed team across US and EU time zones, acting as the critical manager bridging regional collaboration.
Our Cloud Foundation team is the backbone of the New Relic platform. In this role, you won't just manage tasks; you will mentor and empower engineers, transitioning our operational framework from a reactive state to a culture of proactive ownership and engineering excellence. You will oversee critical global initiatives, including major regional expansions into FedRAMP High / IL4, India, and Australia.  What you'll do

<li>Empower &amp; Mentor: Lead and nurture a high-performing engineering team across the US and EU, facilitating career development, performance growth, and a collaborative team culture.</li>
<li>Drive Strategic Ownership: Champion a shift from reactive delivery to proactive technical ownership, establishing best practices for platform reliability and cross-regional alignment.</li>
<li>Lead Regional Expansions: Architect and execute key global infrastructure expansions across complex environments (including FedRAMP High / IL4, India, and Australia).</li>
<li>Architect for Extreme Scale: Guide decisions around microservices, Go-based services, and extreme-scale cellular architectures capable of handling sub-second latency data ingestion and stream processing.</li>
<li>Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Engineering, Security, and Product teams to align roadmaps, remove delivery blockers, and safeguard production reliability.</li>
<li>Maintain Operational Rigour: Oversee production environments and high-severity incident responses, championing robust GitOps and infrastructure-as-code practices.</li>
</ul>
This role requires 
<ul>
<li>8+ years of total software engineering experience with 2–4+ years of direct people management experience. A BS/BA degree or equivalent practical experience is required.</li>
<li>Technical Depth in Go &amp; Microservices: Hands-on proficiency in Golang (including performance tuning and concurrency) sufficient to mentor engineers and conduct code reviews.</li>
<li>Containerisation at Scale: Proven expertise in Kubernetes and Docker for managing cloud-native microservices and integration workflows.</li>
<li>Operations-Heavy Mindset: Demonstrated experience managing production environments, coordinating on-call rotations, and leading high-severity incident responses in 24/7 SaaS or distributed environments.</li>
<li>Cross-Regional Alignment: Proven success managing or collaborating with distributed teams across time zones (US Central/Eastern time zones required to align with EU/US schedules).</li>
</ul>

<li>Multi-Cloud &amp; Compliance: Depth across AWS, Azure, or GCP, with experience navigating strict security frameworks like FedRAMP High / IL4.</li>
<li>Infrastructure &amp; Streaming Tooling: Operational experience with Kafka, Helm, GitOps workflows (ArgoCD/Flux), and Terraform (or Atlantis).</li>
<li>AI &amp; Automation: Familiarity with AI tools/LLMs (Claude, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) for automated operational analysis and remediation, or exposure to open standards like Model Context Protocol (MCP).</li>
<li>Observability Domain: Prior background in B2B SaaS or the Observability domain.</li>
