Summary: Vaxcyte is looking for an energetic and talented individual to join our Analytical Development team as a contractor. Primary responsibility for the contractor will be to support the developmental activities currently on going in the laboratory as assigned. Essential Functions: Maintain an organized and efficient laboratory workspace for the team.
Primary responsibility to oversee the organization of chemical inventory, ensuring proper labelling, storage, and compliance with safety regulations. Assist in the organization and labelling of materials stored in freezers and refrigerators, ensuring easy access, proper storage and handling of samples and materials. Support daily lab operations, including sample inventory and sample shipment.
Assist in the collection, labelling, and preparation of samples for analysis. Prepare reagents and solutions according to established protocols. Perform routine analytical testing by following established protocols, ensuring accurate execution of tests and documentation for proteins and carbohydrates including: Microplate assays including enzymatic assays and colorimetric assays such as Bradford, Lowry and etc HPLC- Especially SEC and RP-HPLC with experience in Chemstation CE and iCIEF – Especially with Protein Simple or PA-800 systems Keep accurate and detailed records of experiments.
Maintain an accurate inventory of chemicals and reagents, tracking usage and expiration dates. Coordinate the ordering and restocking of laboratory supplies as needed. Perform routine analytical testing by following established protocols, ensuring accurate execution of tests and documentation. Collaborate within a team environment to support and further team objectives.
Demonstrate flexibility and effectively complete assigned tasks with high quality and in a timely manner.
Requirements
BS in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry preferred, Organic / Biochemistry considered, with 0-2 years of relevant industry experience. Experience with lab inventory chemical inventory, ensuring proper labelling, storage, and compliance with safety regulations Ideal candidate will have a background in analytical chemistry principles and hands-on experience with modern analytical instrumentations commonly used in the analysis and characterization of drug candidates.
Candidates with other scientific disciplines may be considered based on relevant experience. Experience in chemical and biological assays such as colorimetric/fluorometric microplate assays and HPLC. Experience working with protein analysis – UV-Vis, CE, Bradford Assay or ELISA. Understanding of basic principles of analytical method development/ validation/ qualification concepts.
Attention to detail and excellent skills in record keeping / documentation. Critical thinking and ability to analyze data. Strong interpersonal skills: ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written formats. Ability to work under supervision and independently in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment and collaborate effectively with other team members.
Eagerness and ability to learn and understand new concepts with ease. Reports to: Manager, Analytical Development Location: San Carlos, CA Expected Contract Length: 6months Hourly Range: $40.00/hr. – $45.00/hr. We are an equal opportunity employer.
