Director, Engineering

Role Overview

As the Director of Engineering, you will be a strategic leader responsible for the growth, health, and output of our engineering organization. This isn't just about managing code; it’s about managing people, processes, and the technical vision. You will bridge the gap between business objectives and technical execution, ensuring our teams ship high-quality software while maintaining a sustainable and innovative engineering culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Leadership & Mentorship: Lead and scale multiple engineering teams. You’ll be responsible for hiring, career development, and fostering an inclusive, high-performance environment.

• Strategic Planning: Collaborate with Product and Design leadership to define the technical roadmap and ensure alignment with the company's long-term business goals.

• Operational Excellence: Establish and refine engineering processes (e.g., Agile/Scrum, CI/CD, code review standards) to improve velocity and system reliability.

• Technical Oversight: Provide high-level architectural guidance and ensure the team is making sound technical trade-offs regarding scalability, security, and technical debt.

• Budget & Resource Management: Manage the engineering budget, including headcount planning and third-party vendor/tooling costs.

• Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary technical voice for executive leadership, translating complex technical challenges into clear business impacts.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience: 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3–5 years in a formal leadership role (Manager or Senior Manager) overseeing multiple teams.

• Technical Depth: A strong background in building and scaling distributed systems, cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure), and modern web/mobile technologies.

• Leadership Style: Proven ability to lead through managers, build trust, and resolve conflicts within a technical organization.

• Problem Solving: Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions under pressure.

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
