Job Description

WELDER (STARSHIP) RESPONSIBILITIES: Fabricate, weld, and assemble various subassemblies for Starship Operate and utilize advanced manufacturing equipment such as robots, spot welders, hand-held laser welders, automated welders, seam welders, and press brakes Perform routine maintenance procedures for up-keep on tooling and equipment as required Use precision calibrated tools – torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers Read and interpret technical drawings, and follow detailed work instructions Perform blending, filing, and fit-up of sheet metal piece parts Load, lift and unload parts with use of cranes, forklifts, and custom tools Check work after completion of each operation in job and/or completed job to ensure it is complete per drawing BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalency certificate 1+ years of experience in hardware assembly, test, maintenance, material handling, and/or installation; OR certificate from an accredited trade skills program in A&P, manufacturing, and/or electronics 1+ years of experience with TIG welding in a manufacturing environment or certificate of completion for TIG welding from an accredited program within the last 2 years PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: 5+ years of experience in welding with one or more of the following materials: stainless steel, carbon steel, Inconel, aluminum or titanium Experience with aerospace TIG welding Proficient in cutting, grinding, deburr, and fabrication Proficient in blueprint reading and lay-out Knowledge and experience completing welds that pass visual before being X-rayed or dye-penned Certification with AWS D17.1 and D1.2 Experience with overhead cranes and forklifts Experience using various types of hand tools and/or hand-held power tools, floor-mounted power tools and precision measuring tools ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: This position is based in Westminster, MD and requires being onsite - remote work not considered Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as necessary Willing to travel (up to 10%) COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Pay range: Level 1: $21.00 - $27.00/hourLevel 2: $26.00 - $32.50/hour Level 3: $31.00 - $38.00/hour Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
