PCB LIBRARIAN (STARSHIP) The Starship team supports the mission to revolutionize orbital flight and space travel- opening access for humankind to establish new frontiers in space and ultimately become a multi-planetary species.

This role will be part of the team that is responsible for the design and reliability of Starship electronics. The PCB Librarian will work closely with other PCB librarians, PCB designers, manufacturing and reliability engineers in support of our mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Become the founding member of the PCB Librarian team on the Starship program, leading the effort to create high-quality library parts Create, update, and maintain accurate PCB component libraries including symbols, footprints, 3D STEP models, and parametric data in CAD tools like Altium and Xpedition Review and validate component data against manufacturer datasheets, mechanical drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards Organize and manage centralized libraries, implement version control, naming conventions, and lifecycle management (e.g., active, obsolete); perform audits and cleanups to prevent errors in designs Work with PCB designers, component engineers, manufacturing engineers, and procurement teams to resolve library issues, provide custom footprints/models, and ensure designs are optimized for supply chain & manufacturing Develop automation scripts (e.g., Python, Altium/Xpedition scripting) for library tasks, contribute to library workflows, and train team members on best practices Ensure libraries adhere to DFM/DFA principles, RoHS/REACH regulations, and company standards; conduct peer reviews and participate in library release processes.

Maintain detailed documentation for library parts, usage guidelines, and change logs Drive the future roadmap for SpaceX to incorporate custom AI tools to radically improve the efficiency of librarian tasks BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: 5+ years of professional experience creating schematic symbols and physical footprints using ECAD tools  PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: 8+ years of professional experience creating schematic symbols and physical footprints using ECAD tools  Background in high-reliability sectors like aerospace, automotive (AEC-Q), or medical devices Proficiency in Python, Altium/Mentor Xpedition scripting, or similar for automating library tasks, data extraction, and validation Proficiency with schematic capture and board layout, producing clean and maintainable designs, preferably in Altium or Mentor Xpedition Demonstrated cross functional project management skills and ability to collaborate with other engineering disciplines Ability to work in a fast paced, autonomously driven, and demanding start-up atmosphere Excellent attention to detail, organizational abilities, data validation, and familiarity with supply chain tools for part searches and compliance ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Extended hours and weekend work may be required to support critical project and mission milestones COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Pay range:           Sr. PCB Librarian/Senior: $125,000.00 - $175,000.00/per year      Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
