Senior Communications Manager (Contract)
NYC, New York, United States
Job Description
What you're applying for
We're looking for a Senior Communications Manager to help shape and amplify Lemonade's story during a critical moment in our growth. For six months, you'll sit at the center of our Corporate Communications team — driving earned media, managing agency partners, and building the systems that make a fast-moving comms function run well.
We believe three things matter for every role at Lemonade: drive to push through challenges, efficiency that keeps standards high while moving fast, and adaptability that lets you pivot with data and AI insights. These aren't buzzwords, they're how we actually work.
Our AI-first approach isn't just a tagline either. We're building the future of insurance with AI at the center, and we need people who are genuinely excited to learn and grow alongside these tools.
This role can be based NYC or Remote
In this role you'll
Drive earned media strategy and execution — developing pitches and press materials that land coverage where it counts
Craft narratives across press releases, thought leadership, talking points that are sharp, clear, and on-brand
Partner with senior stakeholders across Product, Legal, Marketing, and the C-suite — managing up with confidence and discretion
Help manage agency relationships, managing projects, timelines, and outreach efforts, in partnership with the agency
Build processes that scale — editorial calendars, approval workflows, measurement frameworks — so the comms function runs smarter, not just harder
Use data to inform strategy, track coverage performance, and deliver clean, clear reporting to internal stakeholders
Monitor the media landscape for reactive opportunities, emerging risks, and narrative trends in insurance, AI, and fintech
Your Qualifications
7+ years in corporate communications, PR, or media relations — with in-house and/or agency experience
Strong project management and stakeholder management skills with experience supporting senior leaders
A strong writer and storyteller with a portfolio that shows real range: press materials, executive content, media placements, blogs and op-eds
Deep fluency in today's media ecosystem — you know the beats, the reporters, and how earned media is driven in 2026
Proven experience managing agencies and running multiple workstreams
A systems mindset — you see the opportunity to build and improve a system, not just execute the task in front of you
Comfort with data and coverage analytics, whether you're sharpening a pitch or reporting on results.
If based in the greater NYC area, must be ready to work in an office environment most days of the week
Please note that we are unable to sponsor applicants for work visas.
Unfortunately, we cannot consider applicants from these states: Alaska, California, Colorado, Montana, Hawaii, New Mexico and Puerto Rico.
Lemonade's US salary range for this temporary term of 6 months is $2,800 -$3,300 weekly plus benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Speak to your recruiter to hear more about the specific salary range for your preferred location.
