Job Purpose The Materials Handling Specialist will be responsible for shipping, receiving, material handling, cycle counts and assisting with annual inventory audits.
This is a collaborative role with an opportunity to influence process development, supplier selection and the overall daily operations of the materials team. Reports to Materials Manager or Supervisor. Duties and Responsibilities Shipping and Receiving International and domestic shipping (documents, packaging, quote for best price & delivery, schedule pick up) Receiving – visual inspection of incoming deliveries, note obvious packaging damage to carrier, packing slips to Inventory Specialist for transactions, notify Quality if inspection is required Notify and deliver packages to internal customers after all transactions are verified/complete Assist with packing/shipping and verifying deliveries to contract manufacturers and/or mod centers, resolve any discrepancies reported by recipients in timely manner Verify items returned by contract manufacturer or mod center Inventory Assist Inventory Specialist with cycle counts, maintain consumables, OPS managed stock (pull cards) Regular audits of supplies for office & kitchen, notify Inventory Specialist of low stock Kitting – pull items per demand & BOM, present to OPS as required Mod Center and Contract Manufacturing support – assist with kitting/packaging/shipping material for outplant as needed Assist Inventory Specialist in identifying slow moving & obsolete parts for scrap or return for credit Assist with cycle counts, quarterly & annual inventory audits as directed by Inventory Specialist or Materials Manager Maintain strong customer focus at all times, accommodate urgent requests for support from operations or service Other duties as assigned Qualifications Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Qualifications
include: Education, Experience and Certifications High School diploma, GED required 1-3 years of experience in materials management Expertise in UPS & FEDEX Systems Skills and Abilities Preference for forklift and materials handling experience Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing Competency with Microsoft Office Suite Knowledge of Net Suite Role Classification and Working Conditions This is an hourly, non-exempt-level position.
This position typically works in an operations/warehouses/production environment. Overtime may be required. Physical/Other Requirements Ability to stand, sit, use of hands to handle, feel, or reach with hands and arms.
