Senior Software Engineer – Full Stack (Cortex Management Team) Role Purpose As a Senior Software Engineer on the Cortex Management Team, you will design, develop, and maintain software solutions for the Five9 AI platform.
This role spans backend and frontend development, delivering end-to-end features in close collaboration with product owners and designers. You will be responsible for software architecture, design, implementation, testing, and documentation across the full stack.
The Role
includes operational ownership of the services your team delivers, including performance, reliability, and participation in an on-call rotation. You are also expected to stay current with cutting-edge technologies and partner with the product team to turn innovative ideas into production-ready solutions. In addition, this role plays a key part in mentoring and guiding other developers at Five9.
How You Contribute Apply strong knowledge of multiple programming languages, frameworks, and development methodologies to solve complex technical problems. Write high-quality, efficient, and maintainable code by following best practices and contributing to software modules, features, and functionalities. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues by identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
Ensure development stays on track, milestones are met, and projects align with business objectives. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and QA to maintain alignment on goals and progress. Follow and contribute to established processes, documentation, specifications, and APIs.
Required Qualifications High proficiency in one or more programming languages, including (but not limited to) TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, PHP, or others as required. Strong experience with web development technologies such as HTML, CSS, TypeScript/JavaScript, and modern frontend frameworks like React. Strong experience with server-side technologies, including: REST API design and implementation Microservice architectures Databases (SQL, NoSQL, Redis) Backend frameworks such as Java Spring Boot Solid understanding of web security best practices and the ability to implement secure application designs.
A portfolio of past projects demonstrating full-stack design and development expertise. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. Strong commitment to delivering high-quality, performant, and scalable solutions on time and within scope. Proven ability to mentor other developers through direct guidance and code reviews.
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline. Desirable Qualifications Experience with Contact Center technologies, including IVR, Virtual Agents, VoIP, and telecommunications service providers. Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
