Want more of the story? Check out our background here. About the team and position We are looking for a motivated and high-energy Accounting Manager to join a rapidly growing organization. Under the direction of the Controller, the Accounting Manager will support the Real Estate function, from construction through operation including project specific and financing financial reporting.
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and leading senior and staff accountants in a team-based environment. This position will work across business units and provide insights which will have immediate, tangible benefits in a rapidly changing environment What you’ll be doing Managing the Real Estate accounting function, ensuring project costs are capitalized in accordance with GAAP.
Providing financial reports and support to the Real Estate team on a monthly and ad hoc basis. Providing location based reporting as needed to support financing activities. Reviewing journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations to support the month end financial close process. Designing and presenting monthly financial presentations to Executive officers and other internal stakeholders.
Researching complex accounting issues and using judgment and creativity to draw and communicate conclusions. Continually identifying issues in both process and accounting for transactions and proposing/implementing solutions. Working directly/indirectly with external and internal auditors to ensure a smooth and timely audit process.
Demonstrating ability to manage senior and staff level employees and identifying and communicating key development points for staff. Developing relationships with other departments and demonstrating the ability to implement process improvements with counterparts in other departments. Other duties as assigned. What you should know/have A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Accounting or similar. 6+ years of Accounting experience.
Previous accounting experience in the Real Estate industry. Experience leading a team and developing direct reports. Thorough understanding of complex Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Ability to collaborate with multiple business units. Strong business acumen and a thorough understanding of Finance and Economics.
Advanced Excel skills. Enthusiasm and energy to contribute to and thrive in a rapidly growing start-up atmosphere where roles continually adapt as the company evolves. We’d love it if you also have CPA or CPA candidate. Oracle Fusion experience, including the Capital Projects Module. Previous experience in a multi-location, rapidly changing and expanding company.
