Senior UX Designer #379

We are seeking an experienced Lead/Senior UX Designer to guide UX design practices across the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) cluster. This is a strategic role that requires both hands-on design expertise and the ability to lead cross-ministry initiatives, working with senior stakeholders across multiple projects and teams.

Key Requirements Experience & Expertise 8+ years of progressive UX/UI design experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead capacity Proven track record of leading design initiatives across multiple projects simultaneously Demonstrated experience working with senior stakeholders and C-level executives Experience in government, enterprise, or large-scale organizational settings is highly preferred Portfolio demonstrating product thinking, strategic leadership, design process, and measurable impact Technical Skills Experience with design research methodologies and usability testing tools Expert proficiency in design tools Strong understanding of responsive design, design systems, and component libraries Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS) and ability to collaborate effectively with developers Leadership & Communication Exceptional presentation and communication skills with ability to influence at all organizational levels Experience facilitating design workshops, critique sessions, and collaborative design activities Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build consensus and drive alignment Ability to mentor and develop design talent while establishing a culture of design excellence Strategic thinking with ability to translate business objectives into user-centered design solutions Work Environment Work across multiple concurrent projects with ITG teams Collaborate with vendors and external partners on various ministry systems Interface regularly with stakeholders from different ministry divisions including policy, operations, and technology teams Projects span citizen-facing applications, case management systems, content management platforms, and data analytics tools The Ideal Candidate Beyond the listed qualifications, we are looking for someone who: Balances strategic vision with hands-on execution and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves Ability to harmonise between product thinking and design Is comfortable operating with ambiguity and establishing practices in a maturing design function Brings curiosity about social services, policy, and public sector challenges Demonstrates empathy for both end users (citizens, social workers) and internal stakeholders Has a collaborative mindset and thrives in cross-functional team environments Values impact over perfection and can navigate the pragmatic realities of government technology Application Process Interested candidates should submit: Resume/CV highlighting relevant experience Portfolio demonstrating UX process, stakeholder engagement, and design outcomes Brief statement (300-500 words) describing your approach to establishing UX practices in a complex organizational environment Any personal data you share with us during the application process will be processed strictly in compliance with applicable data protection laws and our Privacy Notice.
