Functional Description Global Risk & Compliance (GRC) independently oversees the company’s compliance, risk-taking and risk management activities, including the comprehensive identification, management, and mitigation of risks within the Company’s risk appetite. GRC ensures the company operates in a safe, sound and fully compliant manner within all applicable regulatory expectations.

We create and maintain the overall risk management framework while ensuring legal and regulatory compliance. The Technical Risk Management (TRM) team, within the GRC organization and led by the Chief Risk Officer, is responsible for setting up frameworks for emerging risk types, including technologies like Generative AI (Gen AI) and Agentic AI, and their adoption by the Company while ensuring safety and soundness. The Manager, Artificial Intelligence (AI) Risk Management is a role focused on managing the risks associated with the development and deployment of AI within American Express.

The incumbent will be responsible for executing on the overall risk management and governance framework for non-Traditional AI adoption at the Company. We are seeking an experienced manager to be a part of this exciting journey. How will you make an impact in this role? - Implement and maintain the AI risk management framework, AI risk management policy, and AI risk capabilities to identify, measure, manage, monitor, and report risks related to AI. - Identify heightened and novel risks presented by non-Traditional AI and oversee controls in line with AXP’s risk and control framework. - Execute monitoring and testing processes to continuously evaluate AI risks. - Identify emerging AI risk themes. - Collaborate with leadership across Technology, Innovation, Risk, Legal, Data and other organizations to report on the organization’s AI risk profile for AI. - Develop Board and management reporting on key AI risk metrics. - Design and develop AI risk training resources.
