How will you make an impact in this role? The Global Litigation & Investigations Team at American Express is seeking a Law Clerk- Quality to support the Center for Card Member and Merchant Litigation Team. Under the general supervision of Counsel, the responsibilities of the Law Clerk-Quality include, but are not limited to, the following: Minimum Qualifications * 2-3 years working in a law firm or other regulatory processes supporting a quality control process. * Strong knowledge and understanding of legal terminology and critical thinking skills. * Experience specifically understanding claims, lawsuits, and arbitrations. * Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Co-Pilot, etc). * Able to work independently and as a team player. * Strong written and oral communication skills, and ability to communicate quickly, clearly, and effectively with team members. * Meticulous attention to detail. * Able to quickly train on, navigate, and extract information from a variety of databases and information platforms. * Highly organized and able to work productively in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities. * Excellent organization and time management skills. * Ability to perform comprehensive detail-oriented review of incoming correspondences, claims, and supporting documentation to ensure factual accuracy, legal sufficiency, and alignment with internal processes and policies. * Demonstrate sound judgment and proactively escalate issues requiring further legal review or discussion to mitigate legal risk.
Preferred Qualifications
* Enforcing quality standards and refining quality control processes for incoming documents served upon the company. * Supporting business self-testing and other required quality control programs to ensure colleague work product meets business standards. * Providing guidance and support to colleagues to assure adherence to procedures. * Supporting the preparation and maintenance of monthly quality metrics for colleagues. * Maintaining current knowledge of privacy laws and other regulatory requirements applicable to claims handling and litigation. * Conducting quality sampling of work performed for reviewing incoming claims, lawsuits, and arbitrations, in addition to opening case files electronically, and managing various Outlook inboxes. * Supporting quality control projects or training initiatives as required.
