General Summary of Position
The Product Engineering Intern will join the Agile Defense Labs engineering team to help design, build, test, and ship features across our suite of AI-driven products and services.
Duties
• Implement and enhance backend services, APIs, and integrations across Agile
Defense Labs products
• Build and refine front-end features, fix bugs, and improve usability in collaboration
with design and QA
• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code with guidance from senior
engineers and solutions architects
• Contribute to architecture discussions and technical design decisions for new features
• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and other agile engineering ceremonies
• Create and improve automated tests (unit/integration) to raise quality and reduce
regressions
• Assist with CI/CD improvements and developer tooling to streamline build, test, and
deploy workflows
• Investigate and prototype new libraries, frameworks, or tools that improve
performance, reliability, or security
• Improve developer documentation and internal technical knowledge bases (runbooks,
API docs, setup guides)
Education, Background, and Years of Experience
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in
Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
• No prior professional experience required; relevant coursework, hackathons,
internships, or personal projects strongly preferred
Required Skills
• Solid programming fundamentals in at least one modern language (Python,
JavaScript/TypeScript, Go, or Java)
• Comfort with Git/GitHub and basic collaborative workflows (branches, PRs, reviews)
• Understanding of HTTP, REST APIs, and basic client/server concepts
• Ability to debug issues, reason through failures, and communicate technical findings
clearly
• Strong learning velocity and willingness to pick up unfamiliar tools quickly
Preferred Skills
• Experience with React,
Next.js, or similar front-end frameworks
• Exposure to backend frameworks such as
Node.js, Django, FastAPI, or similar
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and basic cloud concepts (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts and test automation
• Interest or exposure to security fundamentals (secure coding, authn/authz basics, secrets management)
• GitHub portfolio and/or open-source contributions
